Hehu and the Taniwha
Mixed Reality experience (VR and Motion controllers) 2017
Hehu and the Taniwha is a passion project I have worked on this past year. It is roughly a 30-40 minute Virtual Reality experience that uses motion controllers. The story is interactive, which means that the user can influence the narrative by making decisions. The story is also based off Maori Mythology.
It is now on the Oculus Store at https://www.oculus.com/experiences/rift/1783477358391522/
The application got 1000 downloads within 48 hours and made the top selling free list.
Master's thesis application (2016)
Agi is a Virtual Reality application created for my Master’s thesis to see if Virtual Reality can enhance the interactive storytelling experience. Similar to Hehu and the Taniwha, the user can impact the narrative by making decisions.
360 VR Tourism

This project combined VR headsets with immersive 360 video content. Captured with the Ricoh Theta and built in Unreal Engine 4, this project looks to virtually give you a tour of Wellington, the captial of New Zealand.

Kia ora, my name is Mohsin Ali and I am fresh off completing my Master’s degree at Victoria University in May 2017. My passion is exploring how current forms of storytelling can evolve alongside new technologies. Specifically, in the last four years, I have been working with Virtual Reality headsets. I took both design and computer science courses which allowed me to create 3D assets, environments, animation and program my own virtual reality experiences. The projects I have produced have used traditional 3D designed environments and 360-degree video.
